The fight for Richard Simmons’ property gets messier as his longtime friend and housekeeper, Teresa Muro Reveles, fights to be reappointed co-trustee of his estate. Teresa accused the late fitness guru’s brother, Leonard “Lenny” Simmons, of manipulating her out of the inheritance in order to gain sole control and profit off Richard’s name.
Recent updates reveal that Richard’s personal assistant Michele Matz has also joined in the fight against Lenny, and has uncovered some private emails in the process. Teresa’s latest petition was to have Lenny’s power as trustee suspended to prevent the sale of Richard’s assets.
Richard Simmons’ private emails get exposed
Matz has worked with Richard since 2001, and part of her job was writing emails for him while he dictated to her. She submitted some emails to back Teresa’s argument that Richard was estranged from his former manager, Michael Catalano, allegedly working with Lenny to sell the late star’s property.
Teresa explained Richard cut ties with Catalano in 2022, due to fraud and exploitation. Richard reportedly swore to never work on another project with Catalano, after he suggested a documentary about his life. Against Richard’s wishes, Catalano and Lenny kicked off plans for a movie about his life, as Teresa claimed a film crew arrived at his New Orleans home recently.
What was in Richard Simmons’ emails?
In the message from May 2021, Richard complained bitterly about Catalano, noting that he ripped his life apart and must stay away. Another states that his ex manager owed him money from past projects, adding that he secretly sells products without remitting any revenue.
From the emails, Richard conceded that his career was failing because of Catalano, and he did not seem to fight back. Matz’s correspondence seemed to encourage Richard, assuring him that his pension, social security, and Medicare coverage are protected from Catalano. Lenny has yet to respond to the evidence, while Teresa appears to have an edge over him with the latest developments.
