She shared that Simmons was deeply engaged in his hobbies in the days leading to his death and maintained a strong connection with his fans, often calling them and responding to their emails personally. He was also passionately working on a Broadway musical based on his life and looking forward to participating in an upcoming ABC documentary about his life, which included plans for an in-depth interview with Diane Sawyer.

Reveles shared that the day before Simmons’s death, he had suffered a fall and, despite her persistent pleas for him to seek medical attention, he chose to remain in bed throughout the day, brushing off her concerns, postponing any hospital visit until the following day.
Sadly, the next morning, when she went to check on him, she discovered that he had passed away. Although the loss was disheartening, Reveles noted that he looked remarkably peaceful with his hands balled into a fist, which made her conclude that he had suffered a heart attack.
