Ringo Starr and Barbara Bach have been married for 44 years, sharing life together with a love that is still as strong. Their love story began in 1980 when they met at Los Angeles International Airport. However, they became close when they co-starred in the 1981 film Caveman; it was not long before they started seeing each other.
By April 1981, the couple had gotten married in London, embarking on a marriage that would see them raise five children as a blended family. Starr has three kids, Zak, Jason, and Lee, from his previous marriage to the late Maureen, while Bach shares Francesca and Gianni with her ex-husband.
Ringo Starr and wife have no rules in their marriage
When asked if he had any secret to his long-lasting marriage, Starr’s response was refreshingly honest as he claimed there is none. Rather than following any set rules, he discovers that their union works because it is nourished by love, understanding, and taking life’s ups and downs together.
He acknowledged that every relationship has its issues, admitting that there are moments when he gets it wrong, yet they always find a way to move forward. For Bach, the answer is just as straightforward. She once shared that the secret to her happiness is just loving him as that is all that counts.
Ringo Starr calls his wife his muse
Apart from being his life partner, Bach has also been an inspiration artistically. She inspired one of Starr’s most personal tracks, “Thankful,” in his country album Look Up. The lyrics paint a picture of love and gratitude as he expresses how she has been his rock through the trying times in his life.
Starr admitted that the song was written with her in mind, and it turned out to be one of the most meaningful songs on the album. Look Up, Starr’s first return to country music since 1970, was released in January. The album was an immediate success, making the Top 10 on Billboard’s album sales chart and No. 1 in the UK.
