TV drama series Knots Landing, which holds the record as one of the longest-running soaps in history, is a spin-off of the popular series Dallas. Debuting in 1979, the show created its own identity by shifting attention from the oil-rich Ewing family to the more relatable story centered around Gary and Valene Ewing, a couple who remarried after an initial separation.
However, amid the betrayals, heartbreaks, and dramas that were dominant in Knots Landing, a real-life connection that grew into years of happy marriage developed between Lindsay Bloom and Mayf Nutter, who made short but memorable appearances in the series as Bonnie and Parker Winslow, respectively. In a recent interview, Lindsay Bloom reflected on how the relationship between her and her loving husband, Mayf Nutter, started.
Lindsay Bloom on how she met her husband Mayf Nutter
Bloom and Nutter’s love story began long before they ever featured together in Knots Landing. In a recent interview with Swoon, Bloom revealed that they first crossed paths with each other at the legendary Palomino Club, a renowned hub for musicians and entertainers during the 1970s. She explained that she met Nutter, who was, at the time, a headlining performer at the club.
Bloom, who was already a rising star with a notable background as one of the “Ding-a-ling Sisters” on The Dean Martin Show, noted that she was instantly captivated by the singer’s artistic prowess. The 74-year-old stated that they soon started a relationship which continued to blossom effortlessly, prior to them getting roles in the popular ‘80s TV series.
A love that transcended beyond the screen
Although their onscreen characters suffered heartbreak, Bloom and Nutter’s relationship blossomed, and they tied the knot in December 1979. Aside from their collaboration in Knots Landing, the couple continue their acting careers, with Nutter making history as Eddie Durko, the first villain ever caught by the Nagels in the ABC TV series Charlie’s Angels. Bloom, on the other hand, has acting credits for her roles in projects such as The Main Event, H.O.T.S., and The Happy Hooker Goes Hollywood.
The lovers who have now been married for four and half decades are enjoying their time with their five grandchildren, one of whom has already taken a liking to acting, aspiring to follow in the footsteps of her beloved grandmother.
