John Lennon Documentary Teaser Shows Snippet Of Iconic MSG Benefit Concert

A new John Lennon and Yoko Ono documentary will examine a pivotal time in their lives, including never-before-seen footage of the iconic Madison Square Garden benefit concert in 1972. The film trailer provides a glimpse of the couple’s political activism and artistry in their early days in New York City.

One to One: John and Yoko is directed by Kevin MacDonald, whom Lennon and Yoko’s son, Sean Ono Lennon, worked with as executive producer. The documentary promises a look into their time in Greenwich Village, their evolving approach to activism, and Lennon’s only full-length post-Beatles concert, making it a much anticipated film for fans.

John Lennon documentary records a milestone musical occasion

The teaser to the documentary depicts the couple’s life in America, with Lennon reflecting on why he came to New York. He is also heard saying how much he respected Ono’s independence and how she contributed to his artistic vision. Archival footage showed their time in the city, their love, and quality moments spent on shared interests.

A major highlight of the film is the One to One benefit concert, which Lennon organized to inspire young people to take action. Clips of his energetic performance can be viewed in the trailer where he urged people to shatter apathy. This segment was restored in high quality, enhancing the historical value of the documentary.

Never-before-seen footage and cultural context

Aside from the concert, One To One: John and Yoko also brings the audience into the social and political climate of the early ’70s.
