Fans of Paul McCartney are bringing back again his joke about having bulimia on Reddit. The story resurfaced after a Reddit user shared a screenshot of an interview about the singer on their Beatles page with the caption, “Why doesn’t anyone talk about this? Bro this is actually insane.”

Paul McCartney is known by his fans to have a great sense of humor. The 2009 interview came about a year after McCartney had a coronary angioplasty in London to open up an artery that was blocked. Shortly after the post went viral, other curious fans also began to add their opinions in the comments section.

In the interview with Irish Central in 2009, Paul McCartney mentioned having bulimia and gargling with salt water before his performances. It all began with the interviewer wanting to know what he usually did when preparing to appear on stage. Then the publication probed further by asking if the salt water ever made him sick. Continuing from where he stopped, McCartney explained that he did it even though it made him sick. “It’s this kind of bulimia thing I’ve got going on,” he said. However, this was strange because the singer had never mentioned having an eating disorder or a difficulty eating.

It was not hidden that he suffered from depression in the ‘70s when his Beatles band broke up, but bulimia had never come up again in his conversations. Speaking with the publication, he went on to say that the habit of drinking salt water was something he had recently started. He would keep a little packet of salt and a kettle of water with him in the dressing room.

Fans’ reactions

Curious about this, the Reddit user posted the screenshot to other fans who also became curious as well. Some believed that Paul McCartney was only making a joke out of the situation since the interviewer would not stop asking.

However, others did not seem to understand what he meant about having bulimia. Another user said McCartney may be using the salt water gargling to calm down his nerves or work on his voice before the show started.
