With his dazzling performance as Chandler Bing on the popular ’90s sitcom Friends, Matthew Perry became the darling of millions of viewers. Sadly, his body was discovered in his bathtub in October 2023, a tragedy that rocked his loyal followers as well as the whole entertainment industry.

The trailer for the upcoming Matthew Perry documentary has uncovered a deep insight into Perry’s battle with addiction and the entertainment industry. An insider featured in the clip explained that the actor who had in his memoir, Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing, shared his harrowing journey to sobriety, which included 15 stints in rehab facilities, which cost him a whopping $9 million was a victim of exploitation by those around him.

According to the Matthew Perry documentary, despite Perry’s efforts to totally get rid of his addictions, certain individuals within the entertainment industry took advantage of his vulnerability, ensuring that he never broke free.

The ongoing legal battle about Matthew Perry’s death

The Matthew Perry documentary also shed light on the ongoing legal battle tied to the demise of the beloved The Whole Ten Yards star. Central to the case are five defendants, including Jasveen Sangha, 41, known as “The Ketamine Queen,” a North Hollywood resident alleged to have been Perry’s ketamine supplier.  Also bearing responsibility for Perry’s death is Dr. Salvador Plasencia, a Santa Monica-based doctor, who stands accused of carelessly giving Perry the medication without caution.

The documentary focuses on the inquiry conducted by Martin Estrada, the U.S. Attorney for the Central District of California, whose office bears the weight of looking at the events preceding Perry’s demise. Estrada underlined that he is committed to ensuring justice is served by making all those involved suffer serious legal penalties.
