Kelly Osbourne Opens Up About Matthew Perry’s Kind Gesture During Rehab Stint

Kelly Osbourne had an unforgettable encounter with Matthew Perry at 19 while in rehab for opioid dependency. She became addicted to the substance after her tonsil removal surgery at 13, which required that she use the prescription medicine Vicodin in recovery.

While at the facility, Kelly was young, confused, and desperately wanted out; however, Perry helped her, like he did many people, to stay determined to get over her addiction. She also exposed a discreet drug ring within the Hollywood celebrity circle, which provided her with whatever substance she craved.

How did Matthew Perry help Kelly Osbourne in rehab?

Perry noticed Kelly’s troubles and walked up to her one day with a chip, after which he gave her the “three-minute rule.” Kelly explained that chips were rehab tokens used to celebrate and remind patients of their recovery milestones on their journey to sobriety. The late actor told her she could get through anything if she could get through three minutes.

Since her encounter with Perry, Kelly held on to the chip and stayed in rehab until February 2009. Regardless, Kelly spent years in and out of the facility and even admitted to being a better drug addict after rehab as she got to rub minds with others and adopt their tricks in getting supplies.

Kelly Osbourne exposes Hollywood drug ring

Kelly revealed that drugs are easily accessible to Hollywood celebrities as there were designated doctors for different types of substances. She noted that they operated across multiple locations; hence, she could get a refill whether she was in New York, Los Angeles, or even London.

Kelly’s claims corroborate recent updates about Perry’s death, for which five people, including his assistant Kenneth Iwamasa and physicians, have been charged. The doctors arrested are Jasveen Sangha, a.k.a. “The Ketamine Queen,” Dr. Salvador Plasencia, Eric Fleming, and Dr. Mark Chavez. They will likely face at least ten years in prison for varying counts.
