Priscilla may have loved Sofia Coppola and the movie about her and Elvis; however, she has pointed out parts she was not satisfied with. She liked that the movie told her story, but she believed some things were not shown correctly. It focused on her struggles but left out important parts of her life. Though she supported the project, she decided to clear up some details.
She said the movie did not fully show her relationship with Elvis as it was. It made her life appear harder than she remembered, and the movie left out moments that mattered to her. While she agreed that there were challenges, she felt the movie focused too much on them. She also thought some parts of her life after Elvis were missing.
Priscilla Presley said the movie made it seem like she had no freedom
Apart from the fact that the movie made her life appear hard, Priscilla did not agree with how the movie showed her time at Graceland. It made it seem like she had no freedom, but she said she had friends and happy moments. She also thought Elvis was shown as too distant. Though there were problems in their marriage, she said he cared for her in many ways.
The movie also suggested she left only because Elvis controlled her, but she said there was more to it. She wanted to grow as a person and live outside of his world. Priscilla admitted their marriage was not perfect, but they stayed in touch even after the divorce. She wanted people to know they still cared about each other. “Even after we divorced, we remained close. He was the father of my daughter, and we always had love for each other,” she explained.
Without Elvis Presley, Priscilla built a life for herself
Even though she had concerns, Priscilla said the movie helped bring her story to more people. After Elvis, she helped turn Graceland into a museum, worked in business, and acted in movies. The movie focused on part of her life, but there was more to her story.
Priscilla also raised her daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, and built a name for herself. Even if it was not exactly how she remembered, it made more people see her beyond being Elvis’s wife.
