Silas Merritt Robertson, aka Uncle Si Robertson of the Duck Dynasty show, landed in the emergency room after a hunting accident in Arkansas. Co-hosts Justin Martin and Phillip McMillan of the Duck Call Room podcast confirmed the news in their latest episode, noting that the 76-year-old is getting better. Fans have also sent kind words to Uncle Si via social media as he recovers. “Can’t wait to see him and the rest of the gang once again this summer,” someone said.
Justin and Philip narrated how Uncle Si was involved in the accident, which was a result of him rushing to get off the boat. Justin even explained that Uncle Si was meant to wait for them to get help, but instead, he took a big stride and fell down immediately. Martin said he also hit his oxygen tank at that moment, leading to more pain. It is not the TV personality’s first medical emergency, as he suffered breathing problems from smoking, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and possibly COVID-19 in 2022. He followed up with an Instagram post saying the surgery was successful and promised to get back to work.
Uncle Si Robertson pretended to be fine after being injured in hunting accident
Following the accident, Uncle Si bounced back up almost as fast as he fell, however to everyone’s oblivion he was in pain. Some noticed his discomfort and called him out, but he insisted he was okay. Per Martin’s account, the family left for the clubhouse and started to grow worried when they did not find Uncle Si in the house. Thankfully they found him alone and in the snow, which is quite soothing.
Martin speculated that Uncle Si must have suffered a concussion because he was acting out of character by isolating himself from everyone else. He was unusually quiet and patient with the rest of the Duck Dynasty household, including Phillip, who learned that Uncle Si’s oxygen levels were running low. Uncle Si would also laugh and talk in between, making those around him wonder if he was fine or not. Phillip said the X-rays and blood test resulted in good news, proving that Si was quite healthy with no bruises or broken bones.
Uncle Si Robertson’s journey in ‘Duck Dynasty’
Uncle Si was in all seasons of Duck Dynasty throughout its 5-year run. He even got his own spin-off, Going Si-Ral, which featured his reactions to viral internet videos in the mid-2000s. “Did anyone else as a child have a weird obsession with the show ‘Duck Dynasty.’…I dressed up as Uncle Si from that show. He was like 60 when that show came out. And I dressed up as him for Halloween,” a fan of the franchise posted on social media, praising the show as a favorite childhood memory. Uncle Si also formed a country band named Uncle Si & The Sicotics with his daughter-in-law Marsha Robertson and singer-songwriter Bridgette Tatum.
Aside from Duck Dynasty and related programs, Uncle Si made guest appearances on shows like Last Man Standing, Veggie Tales’ “Merry Larry” episode, and The True Light of Christmas, where he played Silas, the Narrator. Show business aside, Si is a committed husband to Christine, whom he claims accepted his proposal after about 70 attempts. The couple have been together since 1971, and share a son and daughter, each with families of their own now. Uncle Si and Christine are grandparents to eight boys. The Robertsons are known for their Christian faith, which Uncle Si credits for getting him through decades of his life. So far, Si does what he loves and can also take time to relax by playing with the grandkids. Meanwhile, there have been rumors of his death on social media, particularly X, but supportive fans are managing to counter the fake news from spreading. “He had an accident while hunting but he is still alive. They said he had low oxygen levels,” a user clarified.
