Fast food lovers are annoyed at the unexpected change in one of their favorite meals off Chick-fil-A’s menu as the restaurant included a new ingredient—pea starch in their waffle fries recipe. Customers have taken to social media to express displeasure and share how they have been affected.
The 34-year-old Daryl-Ann Denner said he eats Chick-fil-A at least a few times a week and noticed that something was different about the waffle fries in mid-November. After visiting different locations of the restaurant, he and his family stopped including their favorite Chick-fil-A item in orders.
Customers express anger in Chick-fil-A’s Instagram comments
Customers called out Chick-fil-A on Instagram, showing their refusal of the upgraded fries and demanding that the former recipe be restored. Some customers revealed that they developed allergic reactions due to the pea starch in their waffle fries.
A customer admitted to being sad because the fries are so gross now, while another professed undying love for the restaurant and pleaded for a return to normalcy. “the new fries are too hard and taste like they’ve been in the fryer too long. I’m not going to order chicken nuggets without the fries, so I won’t be ordering,” some other offended buyer raged.
Select locations stock up on exclusive items in honor of Chick-fil-A founder
The outrage comes after Chick-fil-A launched new menu items that were only available in a few locations as a tribute to the founder, Truett Cathy. The fourteen special outlets are located in Georgia and were opened as Truett’s in 2017. The additions to their option include banana pudding, sweet potato soufflé, and sweet potato waffle fries.
Georgia residents can also treat themselves to fried peach pie, tropical nuggets, tropical chicken minis, fried okra, and crispy sprouts at these special locations. Added to refreshments are new beverages, including cran-lime lemonade, frosted pineapple, pineapple nut milkshake, and frosted Hawaiian.
