Billie Lourd faces December 27 with a heavy heart as it marks the anniversary of her mother Carrie Fisher’s passing. For the eighth year without Carrie, Billie took to Instagram to share a heartfelt tribute, while admitting to how much she dreads the day.
Her lengthy caption showed her impressive vulnerability yet again, as Billie never fails to dedicate such posts to her late mother every year. “I woke up this morning with a dark cloud over me… Her death anniversary is like an emotional tropical storm. It pours rain a lot of the day but between the storms, the light is more beautiful than on any day without storm clouds,” she wrote.

Fans flocked to Billie’s comments with encouraging words, commending her dedication to honoring her late mother each year. Actor Harvey Guillen wrote, “‘Chin up dahhleen’ ur an amazing mom! Sending you the biggest hug in the middle of a windstorm in the desert,” while Rumer Willis simply told Billie she loved her.
Many reminisced about watching Carrie’s movies, especially the Star Wars franchise where she played Princess Leia. “What a Lovely way of describing your Grief, Billie. I REALLY Admired your Mom. She was an ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL Actor, Writer, Humorist, Artist! She is Missed,” a second person gushed.
Billie Lourd did not always get along with Carrie Fisher
Despite the deep feelings of incompleteness and loss Billie endures without Carrie, their relationship when the latter was alive was not without misunderstandings. Billie considered Carrie overprotective, especially when they worked together on Star Wars.
They eventually became close, and Billie tried all she could to help Carrie beat her addiction to drugs, but to no avail. Carrie died of cardiac arrest at 60 in 2016, and her mother passed away from a stroke the following day.
