Liza Minnelli is set to publish her memoir, Life is a Cabaret: The Liza Minnelli Memoir, in the spring of 2026. Furthermore, a TV version of her story is also in the works, visually depicting her personal struggles, rise to fame, being Judy Garland’s daughter, and everything in between.
The 78-year-old looks forward to her upcoming projects, which she brings to life in collaboration with her close friend, Michael Feinstein. Liza also hopes to direct attention to the problem of drug abuse and substance use disorder (SUD) with her memoir.
What to expect from Liza Minnelli’s memoir
Liza has been thorough with her memoir, which is reportedly a result of decade-long conversations with Feinstein, who is also a stage performer. She admitted to being hesitant about telling her story to the world; however, she felt responsible for those who battled with drug dependency, having worked with affected people.
Beyond SUD patients, Liza wants unaffected people to be more empathetic towards victims of drug use. She revealed her shocking discovery from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations, noting that SUD affects over 600 million people worldwide.
Who will play Liza Minnelli in the TV adaptation of her memoir?
While the TV adaptation of Life is a Cabaret: The Liza Minnelli Memoir is slated to be produced by Magnolia Hill Productions in collaboration with Warner Brothers Television, Liza is unsure who will portray her. Award-winning stars are on their list of options, but Liza needs a great script first before choosing an actress who loves to dance.
Liza also gushed about more projects in the works, including a collaboration with Tiffany’s. She recently signed a deal with the jewelry company as their creative contributor. She is also working as a producer on Drag…The Musical, while her documentary, Liza A Truly Terrific Absolutely True Story is coming to theaters.
