In today’s social media world of likes, comments, and shares, people are drawn to content that spreads positive values and encouragement. While social media can sometimes be a space for negativity, there are still posts that remind us of its ability to spread love and kindness.

A perfect example is the TikTok video post by Corrie Sterling-Mundy which has amassed over 18,000 views. The viral clip featured Corrie styling her grandmother’s hair while telling her she’s beautiful. This video was heart touching because her grandmother lives with dementia.

This is not the first video of Corrie with her grandmother on TikTok, but it is one of the most watched for good reasons. In the video, Corrie tells her “momom” to look in the mirror, “That’s you! You’re beautiful,” she tells her. The grandmother also smiles weakly and repeats, “I’m beautiful.”

Corries also explains to her kindly that she’s beautiful inside where it counts and outside which is a plus. She finally concluded the video by saying “You’re a lucky ducky,” which her grandmother repeated, laughing faintly.

In the text on the video, Corrie added she’d never stop reminding her grandmother of her beauty because she had a huge influence on her, and she played an important role in shaping how she thinks of herself. She promised to continue to support her. “The most beautiful human I know, my momom, the beautiful Sandra Lee.”

Viewers show support and admiration

The comment section quickly became a safe space as many shared their experiences and journeys as caregivers for their loved ones with dementia and other illnesses. Her fans also encouraged and admired her strength. One commenter wrote, “I would have burst out crying doing this. Your strength is so admirable!” Others also added that the video is “so touching.” “Her life is so much better because of you. She’s lucky to have you,” another commenter said.

The video displays an impressive family bond even in the face of dementia, a condition that affects memory, thinking, and communication. This debilitating disease often takes a toll on relationships, but this video has reminded many of the power of love. Moments like these remind us how essential it is to have family and loved ones around.
