It has been a tough year for Shannen Doherty‘s family as they are still mourning the late star, who died in July this year after courageously battling breast cancer. The actress was first diagnosed with stage III breast cancer in 2015, and by 2017, she announced that her cancer had gone into remission.
The actress had a relapse in 2020, and by then, the cancer had progressed to stage IV and metastasized to the liver. The cancer cells also spread to her brain and spine before her death. Recently, Doherty’s doctor gave an update about how her mother, Rosa Doherty, is coping with the actress’ death.
Shannen Doherty’s mom is doing her best to preserve her daughter’s legacy
The oncologist, Lawrence Piro, recently made a confession during his recent appearance on Doherty’s Let’s Be Clear podcast where he shared that it’s “been hard to talk about” the late actress since her demise.
Piro shared that following a discussion with Doherty’s mom, he plans to dedicate a podcast episode to share the late star’s cancer battle and their relationship. He also claimed that he has a close relationship with Rosa and also doubles as her doctor as well.
Per Doherty’s death, Piro disclosed that “Rosa is doing fine” and “she lives in Shannen’s house.” He also noted that Rosa is trying her best to live with Doherty’s death as she still engages in her daily activities like “taking care of the dogs and doing all the things that she did before.”
Rosa’s life without Shannen Doherty
During Doherty’s last days she made some bold confessions and claims about people’s perception of her. Being a person, who doesn’t like to pretend, she made her funeral guest list before she died, excluding close friends while making sure only her true friends and family attends her memorial.
Doherty lived the best of her life and stayed true to herself, and it is great to see Rosa move on with her life as that would have been what Doherty would have wished for. Piro claimed Rosa is “doing well” and has stayed in touch with her fans to keep “Shannen’s memories alive.”
