Full House creator Jeff Franklin bought the house where the classic was filmed in 2016 as he looked forward to filming the reboot there. He discussed his $4 million purchase of director Tommy Avallone’s documentary The House From…, which showcases famous homes from film and television.
Tommy was inspired to create this insightful film after meeting John Stamos at a Hollywood party, who then introduced him to Jeff. They immediately arranged to film the residence, which fans can now watch on Fubo’s Maximum Effort Channel and TVOD platforms.
Why did Jeff Franklin buy the iconic ‘Full House’ home?
Jeff built a nostalgic attachment to the Full House home and wanted to use it for subsequent films such as Fuller House. Although he did not get to film all the scenes there like he wanted, Jeff was able to transition the view from the studio set to the front door of the home in San Francisco.
He added that he wanted the sequel’s house to be a good example of classic San Francisco architecture, and the original setting was just perfect. He recalled efforts to make footage as sharp as possible using high definition and reviewing each shot.
Jeff was so connected to the house that he edited every episode, which featured at least one of the fifteen shots of the home. He added that the residence felt real to him because he worked with and stared at the same views for 32 years, so acquiring it for himself was only fitting.
Meanwhile, some members of the original Full House cast reunited last month for the ‘90s Con in Daytona Beach, Florida. The castmates—Candace Cameron Bure, Jodie Sweetin, Dave Coulier, and Andrea Barber—held Q&A sessions for curious fans and signed autographs at the nostalgic event, which also featured famous faces from other ‘90s sitcoms like Melrose Place and Sabrina the Teenage Witch.
