Susan Olsen was canceled from joining her Brady Bunch cast mates for a reboot after the network executives did some research and discovered her conservative stance. Before then, Olsen got fired from a radio show for making homophobic comments against actor Leon Acord-Whiting.
Regardless of the loss, Olsen still maintains a cordial relationship with her co-stars, except for Eve Plumb, who holds contrasting political views. The HGTV sequel miniseries A Very Brady Renovation was a success, making history as the most-watched premiere from the host network.
What comments did Susan Olsen make?
Olsen was not immediately laid off from her acting gig as she explained her reasons for speaking against Leon. She claimed it was in retaliation to him campaigning for her removal from the Talk Radio show for publicly supporting Donald Trump.
The network decided to take her through a political correctness course; however, after uncovering more unhinged remarks from the past, they let go of her altogether. She had spoken against the COVID-19 vaccine, the LGBTQ+ community, particularly transgender children, and a few other social issues.
Susan Olsen was to play a libertarian
Olsen’s role as Cindy Brady in the reboot was a contrast from her beliefs, as she was meant to play a libertarian podcaster alongside Plumb’s Jan Brady, whose child would be transgender. They also considered introducing people of color to the formerly all-white cast to promote diversity.

Olsen had no problem playing a liberal, as she thought the producers wanted to recreate Roseanne Barr’s style of putting people of differing views in the same room. The 63-year-old is disappointed by cancel culture, noting that a role she has played for five decades is suddenly taken from her based on personal perspectives.
