Social media users are heavily criticizing Gene Simmons for his recent comments about female dancers on Dancing With the Stars. He appeared as a guest judge on the show’s Hair Metal Night episode, where he expressed his thoughts about the contestants’ appearances.
The 75-year-old seemed to focus on the female competitors and how good they looked, rather than judge their performance like he was invited to. Viewers called him out online for acting creepy at the ladies, but he has yet to respond so far.

Tensions went up after Gene’s remarks about former NFL player Danny Amendola and Witney Carson’s Paso Doble, which they danced to “Livin’ on a Prayer,” by Jon Bon Jovi. Rather than offer feedback, Gene said it was difficult to look at the dancers and figure out who was the hottest.
He then turned to Danny, saying he just danced with one of the most beautiful women on the planet, to Carson’s visible shock. Chandler Kinney and Brandon Armstrong’s Jive to “We’re Not Gonna Take It’ was also met with a similar reaction, as Gene claimed Kinney moved him with her gyrations and beautiful face.
Fans react to Gene Simmons’ comments
Right after the episode, X users took to the social media platform to call Gene out for being weird. “Gene Simmons hitting on every breathing woman in that damn ballroom,” someone said. “Gene Simmons telling someone FIFTY ONE YEARS YOUNGER THAN HIM that she steamed up his glasses is absolutely disgusting,” another raged.
They also accused him of being racist for underscoring women of color and rating the white dancers better. “Gene Simmons is still a racist creep, I see,” a user quipped. “Is Gene Simmons racist? I’m sorry but his ratings on DWTS give me that impression,” a fourth person remarked.
