Robert Irwin had been out hunting crocodiles in the wild just before attending the Logie Awards show in Sydney with Julia Morris as his plus one. The 20-year-old looked dapper in his all-black ensemble at the event, but unknown to most, he smashed his head into a tree just hours prior.
Robert admitted that it took a lot of makeup to cover the injuries he sustained up north, but was excited to be at the ceremony regardless. He even updated his Instagram with a before and after photo of him from both days.

Robert shared a snap showing off what life is like on the job and the glam after. The first slide showed him covered in mud, and the next was him looking clean and sharp like he did not just get his hands dirty. “It’s Logies time!!!” he exclaimed.

Responses began flooding the comments, complimenting his looks in both photos and praising his conservation efforts. Robert’s sister Bindi also left a short note, assuring him that they were cheering him on. Mom Terri Irwin echoed a similar message as she urged Robert to have a great night and to bring back the award.
Carrying on for Steve
Robert was nominated for two award categories— the Gold Logie’s Most Popular Personality on Australian Television and the Bert Newton Award for Most Popular Presenter. He lost both to Larry Emdur of The Chase Australia and The Morning Show. Masterchef Australia also snagged the Best Competition Reality Program award, for which Robert’s I’m A Celebrity also got a nod.
Though young, Robert has been committed to keeping his late father’s legacy alive in the world of conservation and animal advocacy. He recently paid tribute to his father Steve with a video of him speaking about how much he would love his children to follow in his steps. True to his words, Steve’s family have remained dedicated and supportive of their late patriarch’s vision.
