Although Richard’s death has been ruled as natural, the Los Angeles Police Department is investigating the situations surrounding the tragic incident in collaboration with the Los Angeles Medical Examiner, currently carrying out additional tests. The late fitness guru was active on social media just before his death and died a day after his birthday that he had gushed about on X.

Reports say that Richard suffered a fall in his bathroom the day before he passed but refused immediate medical attention as suggested by his housekeeper. He planned to stall until the weekend before checking in at a hospital to avoid missing his birthday. Sadly, Richard went to bed and did not make it the next day.

Richard was grateful to his fans until death

Richard’s endearing nature has made him a favorite for decades even during his long hiatus when he vanished from the public eye in 2016. While being a recluse, he continued to reach out to fans via email, engaging over 100 messages a day. He also admitted to wearing a disguise each time time he appeared in public during those years.

Just before the tragic event of his passing, Richard expressed immense gratitude to his fans for their early wishes while reminiscing on his birthday celebrations during the peak of his career. He described the elaborate cakes he would get at his Slimmons class, which was the popular fitness studio he founded in the mid-70s.
