After nearly a decade of dealing with breast cancer, talented actress Shannen Doherty passed away at the age of 53 on July 13. Although she spoke candidly about expecting the inevitable, Shannen’s death came as a tragic shock to fans and friends, including her co-star Holly Marie Combs.

Eight years after starring in the drama series Charmed together, Holly and Shannen reunited with other castmates Brian Krause and Drew Fuller to launch a new podcast, The House Of Halliwell. The latest episode featured Holly speaking about the big plans Shannen had, thinking she had more time to live.

Not long before her passing, Shannen had discussed building a house in Tennessee and moving to Italy with Holly, who was inspired by her enthusiasm for living. In Holly’s words, Shannen simply wanted to see more of the world and make more impact before giving in to the terminal illness.

Shannen was specific about her funeral

With awareness about her condition and the likelihood of her death, Shannen pre-planned how she wanted her funeral to go, down to the guest list and those not allowed to attend. She reportedly included her former colleagues Jennie Garth from Beverly Hills, 90210, and Alyssa Milano from Charmed as part of those banned from her burial ceremony.

She also had a few bizarre requests to be carried out by her will executor, Chris Cortazzo, who she tasked with ensuring her remains were combined with those of her dog and father. She also instructed against burying her, but rather using some of her ashes to grow a tree, while her close friends could have the rest.
