Shannen Doherty, best known for her roles in Beverly Hills, 90210, and Charmed, passed away on July 13, 2024, at 53, after a fierce and long struggle with cancer. Doherty’s battle with breast cancer began in 2015. She experienced a brief remission in 2017, but the cancer returned and progressed to metastatic stage 4 in 2019, and by 2023, it had spread to her brain and bones, ultimately leading to her passing.

Earlier this year, Shannen talked about her long-lasting friendship with Beverly Hills, 90210 cast mate Tori Spelling on her podcast, Let’s Be Clear. Following her death, Spelling paid tribute to the late actress and recalled a significant conversation they had before Doherty’s demise.

Tori Spelling and Shannen Doherty were longtime friends

Spelling and Doherty’s friendship has experienced a tumultuous journey characterized by significant highs and lows over the years. Their initial connection was forged on the set of Beverly Hills, 90210, where they portrayed the iconic characters of Donna Martin and Brenda Walsh. During the early seasons of the show, they shared a strong bond, often likened to a sisterly relationship, but as the series continued, tensions began to surface.

Rumors of on-set disputes and personal disagreements led to a period of estrangement between the two actresses. Despite these challenges, the duo eventually found a way to heal and rekindle their relationship publicly. They supported each other through significant personal struggles, including Doherty’s courageous battle with breast cancer.
