Faye Dunaway‘s upcoming HBO documentary tells all about her Hollywood career and personal life, including her tumultuous childhood, which pushed her to pursue acting as a getaway. The movie trailer was a two-minute clip featuring Faye talking about her mental health growing up and dealing with her parents.

Her son, Liam Dunaway O’Neil, also acknowledged the impact of Faye’s upbringing on her parenting style, noting that she is hardly expressive with him. Faye admitted to Liam’s claims, adding that she is working on letting out her emotions. She is learning to find strength in letting things out rather than hiding from her feelings.

FAYE premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May, featuring Sharon Stone and snippets from her hit movies. In a scene, Stone displays her alleged diva behavior, complaining about sitting in the worst chair in the world while doing her hair in front of a mirror held up by staff. During filming, she also shows off her simple but classy style as she struts the streets of Manhattan, New York.

Just before Sharon made her appearance, a voice described Faye as a caring person regardless of the standoffish persona she is accused of portraying. A poolside snap of her younger self in a dress was also displayed, reminding her of when Terry O’Neill presented her with the photo following her Academy Award win for Best Actress. She fondly reminisced about the moment while affirming herself and her contribution to Hollywood history.

Struggling with bipolar disorder

Faye talked about her mental disorder, which, known to many, negatively impacted her career and relationships as she was deemed hard to work with. She explained that her bipolar disorder diagnosis contributed to her infamously difficult nature, which she is trying to control through therapy and medicine. She also thanked her doctors for helping her manage her condition through medical and therapy.

True to her nature, Faye had a hard time getting vulnerable and doing a film about real life without a script. Thankfully, director Laurent Bouzereau helped ease her into the role and it was a success. The 83-year-old was pleased by the results, which she cannot wait to share with her fans this summer.
