Cyndi Lauper Announces Official Farewell Tour Across North America

Cyndi Lauper is planning to bow out in style as she recently announced her Girls Just Wanna Have Fun Farewell Tour which will commence this October at the Bell Center in Montreal. Cyndi will be performing in 23 cities including New York, Boston, Atlanta, Nashville, Houston, and Chicago, where the final gig will be held at the United Center.

The upcoming tour is Cyndi’s first major concert since 2019’s Cyndi Lauper & Friends: Home for the Holidays, and she has confirmed it to be her goodbye from the music spotlight. It will also mark her debut headlining performance at Madison Square Garden, New York, on October 30.

Cyndi’s tour announcement via a press release from Live Nation sparked excitement from fans, who flocked to social media to express their anticipation. The entertainment company posted highlights of Cyndi’s career, including a clip of her on The Tonight Show With Johnny Carson. They noted that tickets will officially go on sale starting Friday while encouraging followers to attend and make “amazing memories.”

A user reminisced about Cyndi’s peak years, recalling how they “survived college” thanks to her music. “Epic. Love her…and my She’s So Unusual blasting,” they gushed. “She is a great inspiration back then and still now,” another quipped. Many were sad about Cyndi’s imminent retirement and urged her to replicate the tour in other countries. “If this is the last chance to see you performing in a tour, please come to Europe dont wanna miss this!!!” a comment read.

It is a busy year for Cyndi, who will perform at Los Angeles’ TCL Chinese Theatre on June 4, as her documentary film premieres the same day in the US and Canada. Let The Canary Sing gives insight into Cyndi’s life, career, and her controversial stance on LGBTQ rights in her time.

Cyndi told USA Today that she intends to show gratitude to her loyal fans now that she can because she cannot trust her physical ability in the next five years. She assured concertgoers of the “best” experience featuring “a piece of everything,” including moving visuals, art, and colorful design.
