Catherine Zeta-Jones is feeling that familiar parental mix of pride and bewilderment as her daughter Carys braves new heights. Carys, who celebrated her 21st birthday just last month, went skydiving in a daring stunt that had mom Catherine literally asking, “Why?”
Born on April 20, Carys is Catherine’s daughter with actor Michael Douglas. She is also the younger sister of the couple’s first kid together, son Dylan, born August 8, 2000. In true sibling fashion, Carys’s skydiving escapade is actually a repeat of history, a trend started by Dylan that had Catherine just as exasperated.

Recently, Catherine took to Instagram to share a photo to her Stories. The image shows none other than Carys falling through the air, strapped to another skydiver as the two plummeted to Earth. Carys chose a soft pink shirt and coordinating shades for the daring occasion, which only went so far as to put her mother’s mind at ease.

54-year-old Catherine had a very relatable response as a parent. “When your daughter jumps out of a plane, in baby pink sunglasses,” she captioned the image, “I wonder……. why.” Tying it all together was an emoji bearing a look of fatigued dismay.
Dylan pulled a similar stunt, albeit with a slightly different reaction

Not that long ago, Catherine learned she had to keep a close eye on her kids, as both would prove unafraid of feats like skydiving. Before Carys, Dylan made the big leap and shared his experience on Instagram. His post featured footage of the thrilling plummet, with Dylan wearing a look of joy and excitement while he was strapped to his fellow skydiver.
Most tellingly, he captioned his post, “Don’t tell mom.”
Well, the secret didn’t stay hidden for long. In the comments section, none other than Catherine herself replied with, “Mom just found out,” adding that exact same exasperated emoji over and over again. Meanwhile, Dylan’s older half-brother, Cameron, showed his support with an emoji of a hand making a set of horns. In contrast, to make sure his wife knew he was not in on his son’s actions, Michae quickly assured, “No I wasn’t the Cameraman!”
Remember, everyone, parents always know.
