Davy Jones’ Daughter Reflects On Growing Up With The Monkees

by Peace A

Published May 11, 2024

The Monkees was one of the most famous pop bands of the late ‘60s, with Davy Jones as the perfect frontman for the group, thanks to his talent, looks, and endearing sense of humor. Jones left the group in 1970 to pursue his solo career; however, he last performed with them in 2011 at a Milwaukee show.

Jones died at 66 in 2012 after a heart attack from arteriosclerosis, but his legacy lives on through his music and four children— Annabelle, Jessica, Talia, and Sarah. His third wife, Jessica Pacheco, described him as a childlike and “a funny person” during a recent chat with Closer.

Jones has Talia and Sarah with his first wife, Linda Haines, during the peak of The Monkees’ career. Sarah recalled growing up in rural Santa Barbara County as a “normal” kid in the small town. She revealed how they had to do their own chores, ride bicycles to school, and handle themselves without “maids and nannies.”

By the ‘80s, Jones was married to Anita Pollinger, with whom he had his last two daughters. They would all travel together on the tour bus with The Monkees, which made Jones very happy as a “family-oriented” man. For Sarah, her dad’s bandmates were like family and “a huge part of our lives.”

“I remember Micky throwing us in the water; Peter was always playing guitar and making jokes. Mike was a shy goofball, but he also had one of the funniest, driest senses of humor,” she told Closer.

Jones met his third wife in 2007 at a children’s theater, and by 2009, they had tied the knot at Jessica’s family home in Miami. She reminisced on his passion for horses, which she experienced herself as he gave her her first horse ride. Sarah confirmed Jessica’s claims, “every cell in his body was committed to horses.”

Sadly, Jones’ last activity before his passing was tending to horses on his Florida farm, where he had a heart attack. Sarah and her sisters have committed to continuing their support for former racehorses via the Davy Jones Equine Memorial Fund. “It all started as something my dad was passionate about. But now we’ve made it our own,” she stated.
