Actor William Daniels is feeling grateful for a lot of things, especially at this time of year, as he celebrates not only his 97th birthday but also the continued presence of loved ones all around. In fact, he spent his birthday surrounded by family, just a year after he was honored by his colleagues on Boy Meets World.
Since 1993, viewers have been hooked on Boy Meets World, the coming-of-age sitcom created by Michael Jacobs and April Kelly. Though the ABC series ended in 2000, its popularity endures. In fact, last year the cast of Boy Meets World reunited to celebrate Mr. Feeny on his 96th.

Throughout the entire seven-season run of Boy Meets World, Daniels starred as Mr. Feeny, the kind of wise teacher who leaves an impression on students – and television fans – for years after the final bell rings. In fact, over two decades after the series ended, the Boy Meets World cast was all too excited to reunite to celebrate their guiding light on his 96th birthday.
According to co-star Will Friedle, Daniels “still shoots out the pearls of wisdom.” He added, “His wife, Bonnie, as well. Talking to them is still magical. If you’re willing to listen, Bill is dropping gems left and right.”
Just before the Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo 2023, the cast had a special dinner of their own with Daniels and Bonnie for his birthday. In addition to Friedle, attendees included Danielle Fishel, Rider Strong, Anthony Tyler Quinn, and Trina McGee-Davis. Each of them had not just a wise fictional teacher to admire but also a professional master of his craft.
“When we were kids, goofing off and having a good time, he was very much a Feeny-like presence,” shared Strong. “Even when the cameras weren’t there. In terms of knowing his lines, being a complete professional, being on time. Those were things that we needed to see, and had to learn to emulate in order to be professionals in the industry.”
Happy 97th birthday, William Daniels!
