It’s the alliance of two giants in their respective fields. On Tuesday, both McDonald’s and Krispy Kreme announced that they are partnering up and one big result of this will be certain Krispy Kreme products available at McDonald’s locations across the U.S.
Founded in 1937, Krispy Kreme is a doughnut and coffeehouse chain. Its confections have become highly regarded, if not highly accessible, with their doughnuts ranked as some of the tastiest in the world – especially fresh. Already, the two chains engaged in a “phased market rollout” to test selling these products at McDonald’s and the experiment’s success has prompted a nationwide expansion.
McDonald’s will sell Krispy Kreme doughnuts across the country
Krispy Kreme will deliver three flavors of its doughnuts to McDonald’s on a daily basis, according to this new partnership plan. They are the original glazed doughnuts, the chocolate “kreme” filled doughnuts, and the chocolate iced doughnuts with sprinkles.

“The top request we receive from consumers, every day, is, ‘Please bring Krispy Kreme to my town,'” said Krispy Kreme President and CEO Josh Charlesworth. “Partnering with McDonald’s on a national scale will provide our fans and doughnut lovers unprecedented daily access to fresh doughnuts and the joy that is Krispy Kreme.”
“Significantly, by making Kreme Krispy accessible to fans nationwide through this partnership, we expect to more than double our points of access by the end of 2026,” added Charlesworth. Indeed, shares of Krispy Kreme went up 16% in premarket trading on Tuesday. “The partnership accelerates the development of our existing Delivered Fresh Daily channel, creating operating leverage through distribution density and production utilization.”
A sweet victory for all?
“Since the launch of breakfast nearly 50 years ago, we’ve continued to offer new menu items, flavors and experiences that have made McDonald’s an irreplaceable part of fans’ morning routines,” said McDonald’s USA CMO Tariq Hassan in a statement. Hassan sees this partnership as “a chance to unlock new business opportunities in the breakfast category and throughout the day.”
Availability of Krispy Kreme doughnuts is expected to reach nationwide levels by the end of 2026. The doughnuts, whose flavors are among Krispy Kreme’s most popular, will be available starting at breakfast and throughout the day while supply lasts. They may be bought individually or in boxes of six at a time.
The companies tested this strategy in 160 McDonald’s restaurants in Kentucky back in February.
