A three-bedroom home in Parbold, West Lancashire, won the hearts of many nostalgic potential buyers with its 1970s appearance still intact. The house was built in 1968 and comes with “wonderfully preserved” decor of that era, including bright orange sofas, thick shaggy carpets, and a circular fireplace.

The house designed by the late architect Anthony Grimshaw was listed by The Modern House for£475,000 last, which is a steal compared to houses in that area, about £26,000 higher. There was an influx of interested homebuyers who were impressed by the time-capsule structure.

The gorgeous house sits on a hill, with a stone staircase leading up to the main building past the big garage. The main living room has long, four-seat sofas and a matching coffee table with a wooden wall unit. Further down the space, two leather chairs are in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows for a relaxing view.

The dining area has brass paneling, stonework, and a period light fitting. Unlike many modern homes, it also boasts a frosted glass door and windows separating it from the kitchen. The white cabinets and wood countertops in the kitchen, plus plates on the glass wall, have a nostalgic effect. Meanwhile, the bathroom looks stunning with dark marble-effect tiling, gold taps, a gold shower head, and white fittings.

With all the characteristics and qualities that come with this house, it is not unusual that it got off the market in no time. The listing on The Modern Home’s website read, “Occupying a quiet, elevated position in the sought-after village of Parbold, internal accommodation of just over 1,800 sq ft is set over three stories, with living areas arranged across the upper levels drawing on fantastic views across the treetops.”

The company also noted that the building was “reaching the open market for the first time in over forty years.”

“Beech Hill is replete with original details and offers great scope for further renovation,” the description read further, highlighting the lovely environment surrounding the home. “Situated on the edge of the South West Lancashire plain, the house is surrounded by rolling countryside, skirted by the meandering River Douglas.”
