Internet Gushes Over Toddler’s Adorable ‘Golden Girls’ Hairstyle

One-year-old Evelyn Mae stunned social media with her big bouffant hairstyle, earning her accolades as TikTok’s “Golden Girl.” It is no surprise that her hair came out gorgeous as her mother, Autumn Mathas, and grandmother, Trina King, are hairstylists. Trina learned to do “wet set” styles during her beauty school days and passed down the knowledge.

She told TODAY the process of achieving Mae’s Golden Girl look, which involves putting “gel in the hair and wrap it in small rollers and set it under a dryer. When it’s done, you tease it and smooth it out.” Her daughter, Autumn, described trying it out on Mae as “riding a bike.”

Social media users have fun in Trina’s comments as they teased and made cute jokes about Mae’s show-off. “Omg I knew I recognized her. She sold me some Mary Kay last week! She also makes a mean pot roast,” someone wrote, implying that the toddler looks like an adorable older lady.

Another added, “When Evelyn Mae organizes the church potluck dinner, people at other churches bring food too.” “Evelyn Mae is running for her third term as chairwoman of local Board of Realtors,” a user quipped. More replies poured in, with some saying she “has a cookie tin full of sewing supplies,” “organizes the church potluck dinner,” and “knows all the neighborhood stories.”

Trina, who was shocked at the millions of views Mae’s video received, noted that the toddler has to be “in a good mood” for styling. “We have to make sure she has a full belly and takes a nap,” she explained, adding that YouTuber Ms. Rachel has been a “savior” for keeping Mae’s attention through the 20-minute hassle.

The heartwarming clip features Mae walking down the sidewalk and getting into her miniature car in a purple sparkly top and a purse containing her Werther’s Original and Strawberry Bon Bon candy. She makes a landline call, serves pastries, delivers a birthday card with money in it, and shows off her favorite Elizabeth Taylor White Diamonds perfume. Trina has more ideas for subsequent videos, including a visit to the local grocery store. “What a fun ride!” she exclaimed.
