Garth Brooks Invites Travis Kelce To Sing At His Honky Tonk Grand Opening

Tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, Travis Kelce has dominated headlines for his performance leading up to – and including – the Super Bowl and his well-documented relationship with pop icon Taylor Swift. Now, two-time Grammy Award winner Garth Brooks wants to recruit Kelce to sing at the grand opening of his honky-tonk and bar.

The Kansas City Chiefs won Super Bowl LVIII against the San Francisco 49ers on February 11 after a grueling overtime, in which the score changed at the very last minute to 25-22. All of Missouri celebrated with Chiefs fans across the country and during the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl parade, Kelce proved he’s not only one of the most successful tight ends, but he also has some pipes.

During the Chiefs’ Super Bowl parade, Kelce belted out “Friends in Low Places,” a song that was recorded by Brooks in 1990; it was named the 1990 Single of the Year by both the Academy of Country Music and Country Music Association. The song had been given to Brooks by songwriters Earl Bud Lee and Dewayne Blackwell back when he was still a bit of an unknown – and Brooks’ offer may see history repeat itself.

“Did you guys see Travis Kelce’s version of ‘Friends in Low Places?'” Brooks asked during his Inside Studio G show. “Big man, I’m just telling you this: I will be at the grand opening, if you’re there, I’ll send a plane if you want to come and get another shot at the title. If you want to come sing that I’ll send a plane.”

Brooks is welcoming one and all to Garth Brooks’ Friends in Low Places Bar & Honky Tonk, which is formally opening on March 7. The venue is located on 411 Broadway in Nashville and had previously been the home of Downtown Sporting Club and Paradise Park, according to Billboard.

Currently, two out of four floors have limited openings for several weeks, along with other amenities at the venue. The March 7 grand opening will throw the doors wide to all four floors of the establishment. The first two floors are a love letter to traditional honky tonks and host a retractable live music stage. Floor one will also have one dance floor and two bars. Floor two also has a pair of bars, along with mezzanine seating to look at the stage on the first floor.

The third floor will be set up differently for a quieter, more personal experience, complete with fireplace, piano, and a spacious patio. Two more floors reside on the fourth floor, which is actually the finished rooftop, nicknamed The Oasis.

Expect food from Brooks’ famous culinarily-inclined wife Trisha Yearwood, who gushed, “I can’t imagine there being a Garth honky-tonk without Trisha Food! I’m honored to get to be a part of something so exciting and so big, and to work alongside the love of my life doing it. The whole team at Friends In Low Places is incredible!”
