Alyssa Milano Slammed For Pricey Super Bowl Seats After Contentious GoFundMe

Alyssa Milano enjoyed a close-up view of Super Bowl LVIII on Sunday alongside her 12-year-old son Milo, but it may have come at a great cost in addition to money. Milano shared a photo from the big game on social media and is getting some intense backlash.

The reason is a divisive GoFundMe campaign Milano launched asking for money for her son’s baseball team. Showing photos from decent Super Bowl seats has been soured, in the minds of her followers, with the context of allegedly needing money not long before.

Alyssa Milano issued a GoFundMe that received a mixed response

Late in January, Charmed alum Milano took to Twitter to share a GoFundMe campaign asking for donations to a fundraiser for a trip for her son’s baseball team. The campaign was created in May 2023 with a goal of $10,000. Responses were mixed.

“Girl they still play ‘Charmed’ on TNT,” one reply read. Another retorted, “You are a damned millionaire.” By time of writing, replies have been limited to anyone Milano tags or follows, so responses such as these are limited to quoted retweets. Another similar comment says, “Look, I like Milano’s politics, but she’s a multi-millionaire who is probably still recovering from the great time that she and her son had at the Superbowl. Asking people poorer than her for money for a baseball trip is NAUSEATING. Go bake some f—ing cupcakes.”

In the replies, those who qualify as followers, the tone is more encouraging. One such comment reads, “Made a small but heartfelt contribution. Sounds like a great experience for them.” Another said, “Done. Cooperstown is amazing.”

A fresh wave of strong reactions came Milano’s way after her Super Bowl outing

Not long after the big game, Milano took to social media again showing a picture of her and Milo not far from the field. “My buddy #mothersonlove #mothersonbond #superbowl,” she captioned the post. Another post shows her beside someone affiliated with the American Cancer Society. That post is captioned, “Thank you @americancancersociety & @nfl for making it possible to meet the #acs winner Marge at #superbowllviii! It was such an amazing experience.
#crucialcatch #superbowl.”

Both Super Bowl posts are peppered with comments referencing Milano’s GoFundMe post. “Pretty bold to share pictures of your Super Bowl outing after you collected donations,” one comment reads. “Hope the donations helped to make your evening better!” Another wondered, “How can you afford these tickets but not pay for baseball travel fees?” A different comment suggested, “This is what the gofundme was for!

Others defended Milano. One said, “Seeing all these haters commenting. Get off her IG then. I’m sure you won’t be missed.” Another agreed and pointed to another side of the baseball team situation, noting, “if you read comments, there are DOZENS of posts from other baseball parents thanking Alyssa for purchasing uniforms and offering support as needed. Fundraising is part of being on a team. It’s to teach kids about community, not hand a bill to the rich actor and let her pay. Then, today, chastising a mother for taking her son to an incredible opportunity, because oh you’re rich but want donations.”

The same user added, “Again, fundraising is a lesson about community and support. Did any of the negative nancies think that perhaps a company or an individual offered tickets to Alyssa so she could have an amazing day with her son? Why do SO many have such horrible reactions to her life?”

What do you think of the situation?
