More and more frequently, Taylor Swift has been filling a blank space at NFL matches featuring the Kansas City Chiefs, the better to support her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, a tight end for the team. The pop star’s increased presence at NFL games has sparked some intense backlash, but music legend Adele has a few choice words for detractors, which she shared in a video leading up to the Super Bowl.
The San Francisco 49ers faced off against their 2015 opponents, the Kansas City Chiefs, at Las Vegas’s Allegiant Stadium for Super Bowl LVIII. Right there in the stands was Swift, who shared a passionate kiss with Kelce during a postgame celebration. Adele was probably throwing a celebration of her own, as she was ready to root for the Chiefs because of Swift – and she was ready to very publically defend the “Bad Blood” singer against the hate she’s been receiving.

On the evening before Super Bowl LVIII, Adele went on the record talking about her hopes for the big game. “I’m a bit torn because I kind of want the [San Francisco] 49ers to win, but I’m also a Chiefs fan,” she admitted during her Las Vegas residency on Saturday. She went on to explain, “I think I want the Chiefs to win just because… Taylor Swift’s boyfriend.”

She added, “And all of you that are complaining about Taylor Swift being at games, get a f—ing life, it’s her f—ing boyfriend.” Adele also said she believes “It’s like she made it a bit more enjoyable to watch, cause like I said, I have no idea what’s going on.”

The audience at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace roared with approval at Adele’s words of support for Swift and the Chiefs. It’s a sentiment shared by Chiefs owner Clark Hunt, who appreciates the new audience Swift’s support brings in.
“As a result, we do have a whole bunch of new fans, and that’s been fantastic,” said Hunt. “Not only here in North America, but really across the globe.”
His wife, Tavia Hunt, added, “I’m so excited to have Taylor bring in all the Swifties, so many women and young girls, because it’s our favorite sport, but they didn’t know it was their favorite sport, and we’re certain it will be going forward.”
