In the trailer, Murray can be heard saying “Heads up. Tall, dark and horny at 12 o’clock; the footage shows a large, devil-like creature with glowing eyes. Even the Ectomobile gets its time in the spotlight driving through the familiar streets of New York and confronting ice-themed specters.
The past and future meet, with exciting results
The nostalgia keeps on coming in this trailer, with a bit of something for everyone, from newcomers to the franchise who will be excited to see Rudd, Coon, Grace, and Wolfhard, and longtime fans of the original. On top of all that, fans will see the return of Mean Green Ghost himself, Slimer!
Gil Kenan directs Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, with Jason Reitman co-writing; Reitman is the son of the original film’s director, Ivan Reitman.
“It’s an absolute honor to pick up the proton pack and step behind the camera for the next chapter of the Spengler family saga,” gushed Kenan in a statement after he was announced as the director. “I just wish I could go back to 1984 and tell the kid in the sixth row of the Mann Valley West that one day he was going to get to direct a ‘Ghostbusters’ film.”
The film acts as a sequel to 2021’s Ghostbusters: Afterlife, which itself is a follow-up to the original trilogy. Ghostbusters: Empire will hit theatres in the U.S. on March 22.
