Bon Jovi fans have never seen something like this before. The legendary band’s entire story will be completely explored in the new docuseries, Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story. On Monday, Hulu announced its acquisition of the series, which will premiere in April.
What’s particularly special about this program is that it’s the very first docuseries that has the full band’s cooperation, from past members to the current lineup, including frontman Jon Bon Jovi. That’s over 40 years of history with an unprecedented front-row seat. Here’s everything to know and expect!
“As thrilling as the story of a once-in-a-lifetime talent is, it is even more rare that a legend like Jon Bon Jovi lets the world into his most vulnerable moments while he’s still living them,” reads the description for Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story, via Hulu.
This full story will be told through the use of unreleased demos, candid personal videos, and “never-before-seen photos that chronicle the journey from Jersey Shore clubs to the biggest stages on the planet.”
Gotham Chopra, whose credits include Kobe Bryant’s Muse and Man in the Arena, is directing the Bon Jovi docuseries, which will also shine a spotlight on the band’s “triumphs and setbacks, greatest hits, biggest disappointments and most public moments of friction.”
Past options to learn about Bon Jovi include 2009’s Bon Jovi: When We Were Beautiful and, more recently, 2022’s Bon Jovi: No End in Sight.
Bon Jovi came to be in 1983 with the cooperation of Jon Bon Jovi, guitarist Richie Sambora, bassist Alec John Such, drummer Tico Torres, and keyboardist David Bryan. Their first big hit, “Runaway,” came from their ’84 album, Bon Jovi, and they would be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2018.
Such left in ’94 and sadly passed in 2022. Sambora, meanwhile, left in 2013.
Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story will be a four-part series premiering on Friday, April 26, available to stream on Hulu. Will you be watching?
