“I’m filming with no filter today because some of y’all get really bent out of shape when I choose to use a filter, which I’ve told you about,” said Bertinelli. “Sometimes I use filter, and sometimes I don’t. Most of the time, I do use filter because this is me with no makeup, and this is no filter.”
She went on, “Can you get me a wig without flipping gray roots then, please, because I’m tired of getting my roots done every two weeks.”
She then gave a shoutout to those who only spread positivity online, adding, “Thank goodness 99.9 percent of you are really kind, sweet people and don’t give a flying flip whether I have roots or I put a filter on. But some of y’all need to chill out, ok? I mean seriously.”
Valerie Bertinelli is transparent about her journey centered around body image
On social media, Bertinelli has been upfront about the bumpy road she’s traveled on the path to body positivity and self-love. “I have been doing a lot of emotional and mental purging in the last year,” she said in a post from October 2023. “And the past few weeks, purging my closets and getting rid of things that no longer bring me joy. These were in the back of my closet in my office. I don’t know why I kept them, but now I’m glad I did.”
She continued, “It’s nice to see how far I’ve come emotionally. I continue to work on not suppressing or numbing my feelings with food or alcohol and here I am. I am enough. Our bodies do not define who we are as human beings. A number on the scale does not define how much love your heart can hold. Please love yourself, every single part of you. YOU ARE ENOUGH.”
