If it hasn’t been your day, your week, or your month, you can count on some Friends to brighten things up. Friends, which aired 236 episodes from 1994 to 2004, featured several iconic moments throughout its run, and in the spirit of Thanksgiving, star Courteney Cox recreated a memorable scene from Turkey Day celebrations.

Cox, along with Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Matthew Perry, David Schwimmer, and Matt LeBlanc starred in Friends throughout the entirety of its ten seasons. Cox has been active on social media paying tribute to the beloved sitcom, whose finale drew over 50 million viewers almost 20 years ago. Here’s her latest, just in time for a cozy food coma drizzled in nostalgia.

Courteney Cox recreates her turkey dance from ‘Friends’ for Thanksgiving

Over the extended Thanksgiving weekend, Cox took to Instagram to share a message about the holiday and pay tribute to Friends. “Flashback to 3 years ago,” she captioned the post, “Probably won’t do that again. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!”

She voices similar sentiments in the video itself, saying, “Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! I hope you’re having a great day,” She continues, “I’m feeling so thankful, and also, if I get one more [beep] GIF with a turkey on my head, dancing like a [beep] fool, I’m just going to snap.”

She adds, “So, anyway, since I’m the symbol of Thanksgiving, here you go. Hope it makes you happy.”

Sure enough, next the video plays footage from Friends of when Cox’s character Monica danced around with a Thanksgiving turkey donned in sunglasses, observed by an audience of Matthew Perry’s Chandler Bing. It’s a look she, too, wore for a little Thanksgiving jig, years later.

The tribute is bittersweet among the Friends community, especially during a time so full of reflection as Thanksgiving. Her scene partner in that clip, Perry, died unexpectedly at the age of just 54 on October 28. His castmates have been honoring his memory in both joint statements and individual tributes.

“I am so grateful for every moment I had with you Matty and I miss you every day,” Cox said alongside footage from the NBC sitcom. “When you work with someone as closely as I did with Matthew, there are thousands of moments I wish I could share. For now here’s one of my favorites.” The video showed highlights of their time as colleagues. She also explained that their chemistry together helped make what was supposed to be a one-off fling become one of the most followed romances in the show.

Although their chemistry together had to be a two-way street to work, Cox puts most of the credit on Perry, explaining, “before we started rolling, he whispered a funny line for me to say. He often did things like that. He was funny and he was kind.”
