Some first dates are easy to remember, and Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell run no risk of forgetting their first outing together. That’s because theirs was a rather whirlwind one that involved the police and a near arrest.
Russell and Hawn met back in the ’60s and got to bond on the set of Disney’s The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band. But because Hawn at the time was 21 and he 16, courtship didn’t happen until another 15 years later. When it came time for a first date, Russell and Hawn knew how to stir up excitement, for better or for worse.
A police chase interrupted Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell on their first date
A lot had happened in the years between Russell and Hawn first meeting and having their first date. They had both been married and divorced, but after all that, Hawn remembered how fond she’d grown for the actor all those years ago.

They had a second chance when they were both cast in 1984’s Swing Shift, playing love interests, no less. Russell admitted to being “severely hungover” when he asked her out and ended up putting his “worst foot forward.” But sometimes worst is enough, because Hawn said yes and the two embarked on a night of deception and debauchery.
Their first date was like a romance movie adventure
“I just didn’t know in my mind what I was going to see,” admitted Russell. “She had a great body, and so the first that came out was, ‘Man, you got a great figure.’ And it kind of came out quickly and it could’ve been wrong and she said, ‘Why, thank you.'”
The two made themselves scarce under the guise of practicing a dance scene for the film. They did end up swing dancing at the Los Angeles Playboy Club to start the night out. But they decided the night “wasn’t over yet” and headed to Hawn’s place.
However, Hawn had only just bought it and was still renovating; she didn’t have a key. So, they decided to break in.
“We eventually found our way upstairs,” Russell recalled, “looking around at imaginary furniture and we were in the imaginary bedroom, now, and we are realistically having sex.”
The intimate moment was cut short when police descended upon them, called to the scene by an onlooker who saw two people break in. The two fled and picked things back up at a nearby hotel.
“That was our first date,” mused Russell, adding, “It was a lot of fun, I’ll tell you what. I can’t believe it was a long time ago.”
