Climate Activists Slam Martha Stewart For Using Small Iceberg To Chill Her Cocktails On Greenland Trip

Martha Stewart, who recently embarked on a journey from Iceland to Greenland on a Swan Hellenic cruise, took to Instagram to share moments from the retreat with her fans. “We are spending six days learning about the largest island in the world!!!! Population about 56,000. 75 percent indigenous peoples,” she wrote. “Food is delicious! Crew is very friendly and knowledgeable!”

In another part of the post, Stewart revealed her ingenious method for chilling her cocktail during the Arctic retreat. However, the post faced a lot of backlash from netizens who slammed her for enjoying herself at the expense of fueling a climate crisis.

Martha Stewart says she cooled her drink with icebergs during her recent trip

The photo reel featured a picture of her confidently raising her drink, set against the breathtaking backdrop of Greenland’s fjords, while another image showed two ice chunks resting on a black cart—possibly the iceberg Stewart was referring to.

“End of the first zodiac cruise from @swanhelleniccruises into a very beautiful fjord on the east coast of Greenland,” she captioned the post. “We actually captured a small iceberg for our cocktails tonight.”

Netizens accuse Martha of being “tone-deaf”

Instagram

The post swiftly garnered a wave of negative comments from followers, with some highlighting the ongoing climate crisis as a concern. “I generally love Martha and the excesses of her life because she’s about beautiful gardens, homes, and food,” a fan commented. “But wealthy white people drinking their iceberg cocktails while the planet is in flames is a bit tone-deaf.”

Another fan criticized Stewart for indulging in the act. “Martha, I love ya. But weren’t you just talking about climate change with your washout on your driveway in NY?” the fan explained. “Melting icebergs for a cocktail surely won’t help. I’m not even going to talk about the boat you’re on and how that can’t be good for climate change either.”

Instagram

Some other users expressed uneasiness regarding the cleanliness of the purported iceberg used in her cocktail. “I’m questioning the safety of consuming iceberg cocktails,” the user stated. “Umm, the amount of dirt and pollution in that ice may not be what I would want to consume but to each, there own,” another person added.

“Ancient ice burg with a side of ancient ice worm martinis for everyone! Sounds like the start of a zombie movie,” an individual commented.
