Fans of the original Frasier have new updates on the upcoming reboot to look forward to, including an official premiere date and news on the theme song. The original series ran from 1993 to 2004 but will be returning this autumn exploring new plot points and character motivations.
The titular Frasier Crane, played by Kelsey Grammer, made his debut on Cheers during its third season. Combining his time, Grammer has spent roughly two decades as Frasier. Time will have passed between the ending of the original series and this revival – but there will be many familiar elements to look forward to. Here’s the latest.
The ‘Frasier’ reboot has a premiere date
Paramount+ recently announced that Frasier will premiere on October 12 with two episodes released simultaneously that day. They will also air on CBS, but not until October 17 at 9:15 EDT. After that, a new episode will drop each Thursday onto the streaming platform. The first season is ten episodes long.

In addition to Grammer, Frasier will also see the return of Bebe Neuwirth and Peri Gilpin, reprising their roles from Cheers and the original Frasier. Also returning is TV creator and director James Burrows, who worked on Cheers and Frasier. Tragically, John Mahoney passed in 2018 and the absence of his character – Frasier’s father – will be addressed in the show while paying tribute to the actor.
The ‘Frasier’ revival will explore both new and familiar ground
The Frasier revival will take place 30 years after the original and sees Frasier move from Seattle to plant roots back in Boston. This puts him near his son, a now-grown firefighter named Freddy. While also tending to family ties, Frasier will also have to look inward to figure out what he wants and how he can feel fulfilled in ways that aren’t necessarily material.
The Paramount+ teaser video gives fans a taste of this new flavor for Frasier by presenting a new recording of the old Frasier theme song, “Tossed Salads & Scrambled Eggs.” This time, though, there are “All new hangups” and “No more callers” in store for the good doctor.
