A teaser of the Apple TV+ Godzilla monster-verse series, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, confirms that Wyatt Russell will play the younger version of his father’s character, Lee Shaw, in the show. Wyatt plays the character in a ’50s setting, while Kurt shows up as older Officer Shaw about fifty years later.
The movie continues as a sequel to previous installments of the franchise since 2014’s Godzilla, after which Kong: Skull Island, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, and 2021’s Godzilla vs Kong followed. Monarch: Legacy of Monsters features two siblings trying to unearth their family’s connection to Monarch, leading them to Army officer Lee Shaw.
The Russells have appeared in other Marvel movies
Wyatt has been actively involved in the Marvel cinematic universe, playing Ego, the living planet, in Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2, and its animated Disney+ series, What If? He also played John Walker in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and will reprise the same role in the upcoming Thunderbolts movie.

Wyatt also played a significant part in 2022’s FX limited series Under the Banner of Heaven, while Kurt was last spotted in 2021’s Fast and Furious movie, F9. Kurt is a proud father, seeing his son following his trail and doing great at it.

Aside from father and son, the much-anticipated show will also feature Anna Sawai, Kiersey Clemons, Ren Watabe, Mari Yamamoto, Anders Holm, Joe Tippett, and Elisa Lasowski in the first 10-episode season. Wandavision‘s Matt Shakman directed the first two episodes, and Chris Black and Matt Fraction developed the movie.
The premiere date for the series is yet to be announced, but fans are excited and looking forward to its release. The first images captivated fans, revealing the fearsome Godzilla and some characters in the film.
