Following Michael Oher’s claim that the Tuohy family never adopted him but instead had him under conservatorship to make business deals for him legally, fans are pushing for Sandra Bullock to return her Oscar for her role as Leigh Anne Tuohy in The Blind Side. Oher also claimed that he did not receive any payment from 20th Century Fox for the movie; however, the Tuohys did.
It has been over a decade since the movie’s release, but her Oscar award for that part is at stake due to legal issues and the fact that Sandra played the role of the real-life adversary in the film.
Sandra is facing criticism on social media
Following the news of the lawsuit, fans have taken to social media, notably on “X,” formerly known as Twitter, to call out the Tuohys and Sandra. “I think Leigh Anne Tuohy needs to be in jail, and Sandra Bullock needs to give that Oscar back cause that whole movie was just more white savior BS anyhow,” someone wrote.

Another person also pointed out that Michael’s guardians blocked any proceeds from The Blind Side from getting to him and gave them to their biological kids instead. Sandra was not directly involved in this case, but fans think it is only fitting that she returns the award to support the victim. “I think it’s only right that Sandra Bullock gives her Oscar back in solidarity,” another user wrote with the hashtag “#SandraBullockRecall.”
Some think the timing of outrage is wrong
Someone pointed out that Sandra is not involved in Michael’s exploitation and should be left out of the debacle, mainly because of what she has been through lately. The 59-year-old actress recently lost her longtime partner, Bryan Randall, to Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) after a fierce battle with the neurological disease.
“Sandra Bullock has proven time and again how good she is, and she just lost her partner to ALS. She didn’t do anything other than play a role with information about the subjects that is now grossly different,” one supporter explained.
Sandra’s co-star, Quinton Aaron, who played Michael in the movie, has also spoken up in her defense. “Sandra did nothing wrong. That’s my girl and she is going through a really tough time right now. I really feel like they should leave her alone and stop trying to come at her,” he wrote in a statement to The New York Post.
