A Tribute to the Judds

The complete track list for the album Tribute to the Judds is out, and it features many top music icons like Dolly Parton and Jelly Roll. The album has 14 songs that, except for one, were produced by award-winning songwriter Brent Maher. The album’s release commemorates the 40th anniversary of the Judds.

The Judds comprised Wynonna Judd and her late mother, Naomi Judd, who died by suicide in April 2022. They were one of the most successful acts in the country music genre, winning up to five Grammy Awards for Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal.

The much-anticipated album is set for release on October 27 and features big names in the music scene, like Dolly Parton, LeAnn Rimes, Jelly Roll, Blake Shelton, Reba McEntire, Trisha Yearwood, and others. Dolly is taking on the track “Mama He’s Crazy” with Lainey Wilson. Meanwhile, Reba McEntire, Carly Pearce, Jennifer Nettles, and Gabby Barrett feature on track one: “Girls Night Out.”

Wynonna released a statement announcing the features and thanked the musical talents for their contributions. “To have all of these artists, most of which are my friends, come together and lend their voices and artistry to reimagine these songs, is so special,” Wynonna said. “These songs are so timeless and I am so excited for them to live on for generations to come.”

The National Alliance On Mental Illness partnered on the album

Naomi Judd was vocal about her mental health struggles, and the National Alliance on Mental Illness has partnered with the collaborators to promote Tribute to the Judds in honor of the late singer. Naomi worked with the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill and the Vanderbilt Psychiatric Hospital some years before her death.

In 2016, she released a memoir, River of Time: My Descent into Depression and How I Emerged, which gave insight into her mental struggles. On the morning of April 30, 2022, Naomi was found by her actor daughter Ashley Judd, wounded after shooting herself in the head. Naomi was pronounced dead shortly after at a hospital in Nashville.

A Tribute to the Judds is available for pre-sale now and will release on October 27.
