Kirk Cameron And Publisher Brave Books Report “Sabotage” Ahead Of Library Event

by Dana Daly

Kirk Cameron and Brave Books discuss an upcoming event

Kirk Cameron has been on a tour promoting his children’s books shared through the publisher Brave Books. On August 5, he is participating in an event called See You at the Library. However, Brave Books and Cameron both claim, organizations are reportedly trying to “sabotage” the event ahead of time.

See You at the Library is, according to author and publisher, a chance to “give conservative Christian parents an opportunity to assemble at publicly funded libraries around the country.” He claims that there are efforts coming from the American Library Association against this particular event.

“We have obtained reports of the government-funded American Library Association circulating guidance to sabotage conservative (and Christian) parent groups from gathering in libraries on Aug. 5, 2023,” said Cameron and Brave Books in an exclusive statement to Fox.

The statement continues, “We experienced some small-scale suppression from private news outlets and local public libraries — but we weren’t expecting the highest tier of library leadership to openly attempt to halt our efforts.” They claim a presentation by opponents against Cameron and Brave books instructed attendees on “how to prevent Brave Books story hours from happening at libraries across the country.”

As a publisher, Brave Books and the works it distributes, including Cameron’s series of children’s literature, calls itself “an alternative to the current progressive agenda dominating children’s literature.” Cameron’s work has metaphorically discussed LGBTQ topics, and he recalled doing a reading for attendees, saying, “a singing elephant named Kevin who was tricked by a vulture named ‘Culture’ into thinking he might be a bird.”

He continued, “Do you think elephants can be birds, even if they strap on silly wings and a beak? In unison, and with great laughter, all 300 children confessed with gusto, No!” In recent months, Cameron has shared how drag queens would attend his readings, describing “opposition from protesters who joined the story hour inside the library,” wielding “signs claiming we were spreading a hateful message.”

Cameron’s recent claims of sabotage come from a virtual leadership video by American Library Association, viewed on June 8.
