A new event has Jeopardy! fans divided

Since its debut in 1964, Jeopardy! has confronted participants with trivia prompts in various categories, testing their knowledge in various fields. Some of the format has changed and so have the hosts, and the categories have expanded. But recently, when a WWE category made its debut, along with a crossover, Jeopardy! fans gave it a very mixed reception.

WWE is the face of American professional wrestling. The sport and promotion company have had countless iconic public faces and in a special collaborative effort with Jeopardy!, several wrestling stars presented questions for a category dedicated entirely to WWE. Fans threw some punches at the game show in response.

This new WWE collaboration with Jeopardy! and the associated category received a mixed reception from fans. Current host Ken Jennings kept the hype up during the game itself, saying to contestant Alec Chao, “I bet you didn’t think that was going to happen,” when Triple H and others appeared to present clues.

But another reportedly protested, “Stupid category. I dislike the dumbing down of Jeopardy.” Another agreed, “Horrible category ever! And it’s the one where everybody gets the most answers right!”
