Valerie Bertinelli is opening up about her recent weight loss and the one thing that truly helped her. On her TikTok account, Valerie shared a video of herself walking and talking about how she decided to give up drinking alcohol for the month of January.
It has become a popular trend to give up alcohol in January and is often called Dry January. After the holidays, when many people indulge too much, it can be helpful to take a break. Valerie decided to try the experiment and shared her results.

She said in the video, “So, here’s a nice little side effect of Dry January. These jeans that I’m wearing were so tight a few months ago that I couldn’t comfortably button them. Now, they’re so loose it’s time for me to go down a size. Yeah, I like that side effect.”

Valerie previously shared why she wanted to participate in Dry January. She said, “One, I want to try and cut down the cravings for my sugar. And I think alcohol exacerbates that. I want to calm down the cortisol in my body that has been raging for the last five, six years. I’ve been in fight, flight, freeze, fawn mode. And I want to go into rest and digest. I think cutting alcohol will help me do that.”
It sounds like Dry January truly helped Valerie and she encouraged her fans to try the challenge as well.
