Country singer Toby Keith revealed this year that he has been battling stomach cancer. He received the diagnosis about a year ago and has been in treatment ever since. He had to cancel his tour dates for the year and often sit out events.
Toby recently thanked fans for their support after he couldn’t make a fundraiser where he was going to receive an award. Toby is being honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award by the SabesWings Strikeout Fundraiser for his work with the Toby Keith Foundation and OK Kids Korral.

Unfortunately, he wasn’t feeling well and was unable to travel to California to receive the award. He accepted it virtually from his home. In the video, Toby shared, “Hi. I’m honored to accept the lifetime achievement award from SabesWings. I’ve been through a crazy year dealing with cancer myself and was unable to attend the event and I’m sorry about that.”

He thanked everyone at SabesWings and added, “Bret and Kandace select individuals for this honor in three categories – servitude to a collection of people who are in need, making a difference in the lives of others, and the common thread to work cohesively with other groups sharing a purpose and passion.”
While Toby certainly has the means to pay for all of his treatments, he recognizes that many people do not. His foundation helps those with debt from medical treatments. They help both adults and children battling cancer.
