Chandler Powell recently found himself in the hospital. In addition to help from the medical staff, Powell has also received excellent care from wife Bindi Irwin. Powell was hospitalized with tonsillitis, swelling of the tonsils that, if it recurs frequently, can call for surgical intervention.
Indeed, Powell confirmed he did have surgery to remove his tonsils. While still in the hospital, he shared a touching tribute to Bindi thanking her for her love and care. On Thursday, Powell took to Instagram to share a photo of himself and Bindi while he’s still hospitalized. They are both smiling from his bed, leaning on a large fluffy pillow. “Just wanted to write a note to my amazing wife,” he captioned the post. “I had to get my tonsils out and she has been taking the best care of me. I’m so lucky to be loved by you, @bindisueirwin.”

His shoutout then goes on to express appreciation for Bindi’s mother, Terri Irwin. He added, “Also, thank you Bunny (my awesome mum-in-law) for taking care of Grace while we’ve been in the hospital and I’ve been recovering.”
The family that works and heals together
Bindi was quick to respond to this heartfelt post, commenting, “Sweetheart, always always always here for you. Being married to you is the very best and I’m so proud of you.” The feeling is mutual, as the conservationist couple frequently shares posts appreciating each other and their daughter, Grace, who turned one year old this spring!
As for Terri’s nickname of Bunny, that was reportedly inspired by a neighbor of Terri’s from when she lived in Oregon; that neighbor bore that same nickname. “We spent a long time searching for grandma names that also had an animal link,” Bindi explained. Robert, Bindi’s brother, is the “fun uncle.” It seems the whole family has some great loved ones to get support from during trying times.
