The 53rd annual award ceremony is being broadcast from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee. Nashville is the home of country music. For instance, the 2019 CMA Awards is the first-ever ceremony where a woman was nominated in every category (apart from Male Vocalist of the Year). CMA’s chief marketing officer, Damon Whiteside spoke to Vanity Fair about this year’s ceremony, “It gives us a really great way to celebrate the rich legacy of female country artists because there’s been so many, and so many incredible hits. We’re going to celebrate women of country like never before.”
