For those looking to indulge in the cocktail Frank Sinatra called his favorite, they need less than a handful of ingredients to make that happen. The drink in question is called a Rusty Nail, and it was the beverage of choice when Sinatra was most popularly associated with the Rat Pack, the musical group of A-list business friends who would appear together on stage and in film, while also enjoying lively house parties where the liquor would keep on flowing. Sinatra, in particular, was known to have quite the thirst and when he was craving a cocktail, he didn’t have to fight hard to make his favorite. As for the rest of the drink’s origin, one theory dates it back to 1937 New York, an early first appearance for the Rusty Nail before it hibernated until the ‘60s, reawakening at Manhattan’s Club 21.
